CHANGING OF THE SEASONS

It is the middle of September as summer still hangs on, but there is a chill in the morning air as I drink my coffee, listen to the radio and reflect on life.   Looking forward to Fall always brings a certain amount of joy after surviving another hot dry summer and above all not being burned out by a wildfire.   My garden still produces a few tomatoes, green beans, some squash and peppers, but its days are numbered.  The daily chores also change with the seasons as the morning watering routine declines due to recent rains and in another month there will be a need for getting a fire going in the wood stove to keep body and soul warm.   The Fall colors are one of natures blessing in a world of human chaos.   This is the time of year to escape to the mountains as the mosquitoes and ticks are hopefully gone.   I feel the urgency to get away from the daily grind, see the Vine Leaf Maple turning yellow and orange while hiking a mountain trail before winter sets in.
